one to one yoga tuition
How it works for you:
The practice of yoga is best and traditionally taught through personalised instruction.
Instruction that is directly relevant to each student.

These sessions build upon the following three things:
1. Identifying the important points of focus
What the short and long term goals in your yoga practice are. |
2. Crafting a sequence
Including asana (poses), pranayama (breath work) and meditation to start you on a pathway towards your goal(s) and what we have identified as important. |
3. On going adjustment over time
As you apply yourself in steady practice your focus, physical wellbeing and goals will evolve and we need to allow our practice to grow with us. |
Asana, pranayama and meditation are the 3 most common techniques most people would recognise.
Asana
The wide variety of poses available in Hatha Yoga are combined in a sequence to promote a healthy body, with the view to longevity, so you can move well throughout your life. |
Pranayama
Specific and controlled breathing rhythms for both physical and mental wellbeing. |
Meditation
Guided awareness techniques encouraging/training mental discipline to promote mental wellbeing and stability. |
Regular attendance:
Regular practice and attendance is necessary to forge new habits and benefit from a yoga practice.
I often liken it to reading a paragraph - If we begin reading and look up every 5 words, distracting ourselves with something else, it becomes very hard to appreciate the overall structure and meaning of the sentences within the paragraph. A yoga practice is the same if we do it for a short while we will get a glimpse of what it could mean but if we are able to commit to it we begin to appreciate and comprehend how the days, the weeks, the years, build long term change and evolution in the body and thought processes.
Because of the time intensive nature of this form of practice it is not intended as a causal or drop in class option.
It is important that we look at this practice not as a 'when we feel up to it' activity. If we want to see the benefits of this practice then we need to sincerely commit to doing it rain or shine, happy or sad.

Regular attendance gives you:
1. Progression of practice & teaching
As mentioned above we do change over time and regular attendance allows for the evolution in your practice and the adjustment in the content of teaching. |
2. Change in habits
Habits can be tricky once you have them they are easily maintain but changing them can be very challenging. Regular attendance allows you to forge the new habit of making space for the yoga practice in your life and this can become the foundation upon which you can branch out and change other areas in your life as well. |
3. Compare & contrast
This is something you are able to appreciate over time, especially when your practice is consistent over the seasons (which effect our body and mood differently) but also through times of high/low stress or work. |
